Who Invented the Television?

There wasn't just one person who invented the modern day TV. A whole lot of people contributed.

Paul Gottlieb was the first to invent a rotating disk that transmitted pictures via cable. This happened in 1884. But Abbe Giovanna Caselli, George Carey, Sheldon Bidwell, Eugene Goldstein, Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison all contributed with prior inventions that enabled Paul Gottlieb to invent his rotating disk.

Paul Nipkow, Vladimir Zworkin and Charles Jenkins should also be given credit.

Decades later, in the 1920's John Logie Baird patented the transparent rods for transmitting images. Peter Goldmark is given credit for the first colour TV system.
